Walking tours and runs that start at your hotel.
Pick how long you have and what you're into, and Wayfarer plans a loop from where you're staying: a self-guided walking tour with the story of each stop read aloud, or a running route past the sights.

See the city on your own clock
Group tours leave when they leave, and guidebook walks start somewhere you have to get to first. A Wayfarer tour starts at your hotel door whenever you're ready, lasts as long as you have, and brings you back again. Choose what interests you and it picks a route through real places nearby, with a short story for each one to listen to as you walk. If you run, do the same thing in trainers: a loop of the distance you want that takes in the sights before breakfast.
How it works
- 01
Choose a walk or a run
Pick 30 minutes, an hour or two, or a distance, then what you're into: museums, street food, architecture, parks and more.
- 02
Get a loop from your hotel
Real, verified places in a sensible order, with walking times between them and the whole route on the map.
- 03
Press Start tour
Tour mode takes you stop by stop, with an arrow pointing the way and narration you can listen to as you walk.

A guide in your pocket
Each stop has a short story about what you're looking at, read aloud in a natural voice and in your language.
Runs for travelling runners
Running routes start and finish at your hotel and pass the sights on the way, so a morning run doubles as a tour of the city.
Save it for offline
Upcoming trips save themselves to your phone, tour audio included, so the tour still works with no signal or roaming.
Open it in Maps
Prefer turn-by-turn directions? Every tour and run opens in your maps app with one tap.
Only real places
Every stop is checked against Google Maps before it's added. If a suggestion can't be placed reliably, it's left out, so you're never sent to somewhere that isn't there.
Tour mode on the street
Tour mode shows where you are, how far the next stop is and how long the walk takes. You can see a stop from the street before you set off, and move between stops with one tap.
Questions
- How long are the tours?
- You choose when you create one. The walking tour in these screenshots has 7 stops and takes about three hours, with time at each stop.
- Do I need mobile data while I walk?
- Not if the trip is saved for offline. The stops and narration work without a signal; only the map background needs a connection.
- Are tours free?
- Yes. Walking tours, runs and narration are all part of the free plan.
- Can I change the stops?
- Yes. Each stop is an ordinary item on your itinerary: edit its time, remove it, or add your own stops in between.
- Which cities does it work in?
- Anywhere Google Maps knows the area well, from big cities to small towns. The tour starts wherever your hotel is.
